Holly Cottage is a grade two listed, 17th century property in the heart of the picturesque village of Gosfield in Essex. In addition to the property’s listing it is sited in a conservation area. As such applications to extend the property were carefully scrutinised by both the local planning authority and Essex County Council’s historic buildings advisor. This project was permitted by the authorities but subject to conditions around the look of the extension and the materials used. This is where a building firm with an intimate knowledge of both traditional building practice and materials can make all the difference and made it a perfect project for DH Heritage.
